Our Top 5 Teams in the NFL

With the season just about a quarter of the way through, take a look at our top 5 teams!

5. Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are 3-1 and currently sit in 2nd place behind the Steelers in the AFC North.  They rank 7th in the NFL averaging 30.5 points per game, despite ranking 25th in yards per game at 341.5.  Similarly, their defense ranks 4th in points allowed at 18.3, while ranking 17th in yards allowed at 367.5.  Lamar Jackson hasn’t quite looked like the MVP winner from last year, but if he can improve his play the Ravens will be a tough team to beat.

4. Buffalo Bills: The Bills sit atop the AFC East with a 4-0 record.  They rank 5th in points per game at 30.8, and 4th in yards per game at 409.5.  Josh Allen has the 3rd highest passer rating among quarterbacks behind Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers (technically Jarvis Landry ranks first).  Defensively the Bills rank 17th in points allowed at 25.0, and 20th in yards allowed at 381.3.  You may see this team playing in the AFC Championship game.

3. Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks lead the NFC West with a 4-0 record.  Led by the otherworldly play of Russell Wilson, the Seahawks’ offense rank 2nd in points per game at 35.5 and 3rd in yards per game at 416.3.  Individually Russell Wilson ranks 1st in completion percentage, passer rating, and touchdowns.  Defensively it has been a different story for Seattle.  They rank 21st in points allowed at 27.3, and dead last in yards allowed at 476.8.  Three out of Seattle’s four wins have been by 8 points or less, these close games will continue if they can’t find a way to stop their opponents from finding the end zone.

2. Green Bay Packers: The Packers are in first place in the NFC North with a 4-0 record.  The Green Bay offense leads the league in points per game at 38.0 and are 2nd in yards per game at 445.5.  The phenomenal play of Aaron Rodgers combined with a solid pair of running backs has resulted in the Packers ranking 4th in both passing yards per game and rushing yards per game.  Defensively the Packers rank 18th in points allowed at 25.3, and 12th in yards allowed at 353.3.  Their success through the air and on the ground presents a nightmare matchup for any defense.

1. Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs are in first place in the AFC West with a 4-0 record.  The defending Super Bowl Champions currently rank 9th in points per game at 29.3, and 5th in yards per game at 405.8.  The Kansas City defense ranks 2nd in points allowed at 17.5, and 14th in yards allowed at 356.0.  With a championship pedigree, an offense loaded with weapons, and a defense that keeps points off the board, the Chiefs have earned the top spot.
